What to do if you find an injured raptor
by Sara DeBold, posted May 2, 2008

Call the College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital 573-882-7821 or 573-882-4589 after 5 p.m. or on weekends.

They suggest that you wait for them to move the bird.

If the bird is in danger follow these guidelines to move it:

  • Wear thick gloves, such as welding gloves.
  • Place a towel over the bird.
  • Watch the birds position, it may be on its back and attack with talons.
  • Gently move the bird into a box or dog kennel.
  • Keep it in a dark quit place.
  • Do not offer food or water.
