Allison Clarke
|
Allison Clarke is a Columbia native in her first semester writing for CAFNR Corner Post. However, the freshman majoring in agricultural journalism does bring experience to the table, both as an editor in high school, and with a skilled hand in photography.
Allison enjoys riding horses, which she describes as a rewarding hobby that takes up a good chunk of her time. She has been barrel racing for about five years. When she is not riding, she might be found working at Murry’s as a hostess, watching sports or viewing a favorite movie such as “Fight Club.” Allison is a big fan of music, and cites Johnny Cash as one of her favorite musicians. She also has a particular fondness for piano and acoustic guitar.

Sean Comstock |
Sean Comstock is a 20-year-old sophomore majoring in agricultural journalism here at Mizzou. This is his second semester serving as a reporter for CAFNR Corner Post.
Sean is from Kansas City and says that he would like to work for a newspaper after he graduates. His goal is to find a newspaper that allows him to travel a lot.
Sean’s interests include writing, watching movies and playing music. With his musical talent, he plays both the base guitar and the drums. Even though he enjoys all types of music, he mostly plays jazz.

Orin Pogue |
Orin Pogue, of Rolla, Mo., now calls Mizzou his home away from home. “My favorite thing about Mizzou is the freedom and all the people,” he said. Aside from participating in classes such as CAFNR Corner Post, Orin enjoys playing intramural basketball and hopes to play soccer in the spring.
As a freshman agricultural journalism student, this is Orin’s second semester reporting for Corner Post. “I think my best story was one I did last semester,” he said of his writing. “It was titled Involuntary Marine Recall.”
Orin aspires to travel to Ireland, and until he gets there, you might find him in Gillette Hall enjoying some of his favorite tunes.

James Thornton |
James Thornton is a senior majoring in general agriculture at Mizzou. While his career choice remains undecided, he retains a strong interest in writing. James finds covering social events and conservation issues especially appealing.
James also shares a passion for dance and music. As a member of the Mizzou Ballroom Dance organization, he attends competitions with a partner representing Mizzou. James has had success with ballroom dancing and plans to pursue this leisure.
Attending country and classic rock concerts also remains one of James’ hobbies. He recently saw Cross Canadian Ragweed live in Columbia, Mo.
James was born in Moberly, Mo., where he first began his hobby of horseback riding.

Eric Wright |
Whether he’s jamming on his guitar or spending time in the wilderness, freshman Eric Wright is a fairly mellow, yet adventurous, guy. Though his head is often filled with blues, folk, older rock and roll, or “any good music,” he thoroughly enjoys reading and writing.
His adventurous side comes out in his love for the outdoors. Eric enjoys backpacking and once trekked through New Mexico for 21 days, living out of his backpack.
Wright came from Blue Springs, Mo., to study agricultural journalism at MU. This is his second semester as a staff writer for CAFNR Corner Post.

Mariah Yates |
Mariah Yates is a senior majoring in agricultural education and leadership at Mizzou. Originally from Monroe City, Mo., she enjoyed growing up in a farming environment, along with three siblings.
Class work aside, Mariah spends most of her free time listening to music, hanging out with her friends and job-hunting for her future career. Last year, Mariah took advantage of a chance to study abroad and spent time in France, and she would advise other CAFNR students to do so also.
This is Mariah’s first semester reporting for CAFNR Corner Post. |
