Valentine's Day flowers
By Brooke Tacker, 2/10/06

This Valentine’s Day the MU Horticulture Club, made up of horticulture majors and other students with an interest in plant science, is offering some great deals. Roses will be for sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 14 in the main lobby of the Anheuser Busch Natural Resources Building. The roses will be available in many different colors and range from $4-$45 depending on quality, color, and how they are arranged.

The horticulture club is involved in many different activities other than just selling roses for Valentine’s Day. They hold monthly meetings to discuss club business and listen to guest speakers from the horticulture industry. Other activities include apple picking at MU’s research farm and trips to Missouri’s botanical gardens. The club is also an active participant in the MACHS (Mid America Collegiate Horticulture Society) contest each spring. MU’s Horticulture Club is active in service projects around Columbia, too. For more information about the Horticulture Club go to www.students.missouri.edu/~horticulture/

Tiger Garden, a student operated flower shop, is also offering deals for Valentine’s Day. Its mission is to expand the education process by combining traditional textbook learning with hands on small business experience in an entrepreneurial environment. Tiger Garden is open from 12:30-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday in 2-34 agriculture building. They will have fresh floral arrangements priced from $4.95-$69.95. To place an order, call (573) 884-1191.
