Career Fair offers students opportunity to network with potential employers

On Feb. 24, the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources will hold an Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Fair in Reynolds Alumni Center. The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m.

“Even if you have your summer plans set, go to the career fair and introduce yourself," said Stephanie Chipman, CAFNR Career Services director. “With increased competition for positions, networking is important. What you know, who you know and who knows you all count!”

Last fall, CAFNR held a similar career fair where many students were offered summer internships and jobs.

“Attending the Career Fair is a great way to actively pursue an internship,” said Kaity Kerwin, agricultural journalism senior. “Last fall I spoke with Pioneer Hi-Bred at the Fair and learned so much about their company atmosphere. I quickly knew this was a great fit for me and applied immediately. Now I've got the public affairs internship!”

Employers from a variety of industries will be represented at the fair.

“The CAFNR Career Fair is an excellent resource for current students seeking internships, full time jobs or simply brushing up on networking skills,” said Logan Chrislaw, agricultural economics junior. “I am always pleased at the broad spectrum of companies and career options represented at the career fair. It is a great place to expose yourself to multiple employment opportunities and career spectrums of the agriculture industry.”
