Meet Sierra Angell
by Amy Zuroweste, posted Sept. 19, 2011 |
Sierra Angell is from Centralia, Mo., and is majoring in agriculture with a minor in Textile and Apparel Management. She loves being close to home, but is still far enough away to get a college experience. Having three younger sisters, being only 30 minutes away from home is a blessing. She can easily continue to be a part of their lives, and she loves traveling back to watch their sporting events. She is currently a junior at Mizzou, and plans on graduating next December.
While attending Centralia High School, Angell was involved in athletics. She ran track and cross-country and played basketball. Sports, however, were not the only things that she enjoyed doing. For the past two years she has written a column in her uncle’s newspaper, The Cattleman’s Advocate. It is the regional publication for the Eastern Missouri Commission Company; a company run by her father and uncle. At Mizzou, she is an active member of Sigma Phi Lambda, or Sister’s For the Lord, as well as the Collegiate Cattle Women Association. She also works two days a week at Helzburg Diamonds, a jewelry shop. She absolutely loves her job, and has a passion for jewelry.
“It would be neat to someday have a jewelry store,” Angell said. “Not right away, but maybe 20 years down the road.”
As Angell passes the halfway mark in college, she has a sense of what she would like to do after Mizzou. Just as her mother does, she would like to be a stay-at-home mom with a thriving cattle farm. Continuing the family tradition of agriculture is her goal, as well as one day having a jewelry store. She would also love to continue writing for The Cattleman’s Advocate. She is excited and passionate about her future ahead of her.
