Meet Paige Childs

Paige Childs of Wellington, Mo., has juggled a busy schedule all through high school. During her time at Wellington-Napoleon High School, Childs was involved in several extracurricular activities, some of which included basketball, volleyball, track, cheerleading, FCCLA, NHS and FFA. Now, at the University of Missouri, Childs should have no trouble trying to balance her course load with work, Greek life, and all of her other activities.
During high school, Childs was highly involved in her school’s FFA chapter, serving as a chapter officer for three years and as the treasurer for Area VI during her senior year. FFA allowed her the opportunity to attend the state FFA Convention where she developed her professional and networking skills. She also participated in the state choir and recently received her State FFA Degree.
Childs, one of the new reporters on the Corner Post staff, said coming to the University of Missouri came as no surprise when choosing the right college for her.
“I love the spirit here, I’ve wanted to come ever since I was a little girl,” Childs said.
However, finding the right major for Childs took a little more time. Originally an agribusiness major, she changed her mind pretty quickly once exposed to the science and ag journalism program. An older peer who recently graduated with a degree in science and ag journalism helped Childs to choose the path she wants to follow for her career. Childs found the food and wine focus within the science and ag journalism major and immediately knew what she wanted for her future.
“It seemed like a major I would fit in better, more like home,” Childs said.
Living in the dorms and Greek life are two of the things Childs has come to love most about Mizzou.
“I have a great group of friends in College Avenue and enjoy our family dinners and movie nights,” Childs said.
