Borgore rocks the Blue Note

On Monday, Dec. 6, dubstep DJ, Borgore, and various other dubstep DJs rocked the Blue Note. The venue was bouncing with excitement from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

In the past few years, the music genre, dubstep, has grown in popularity greatly. It is a music style designed for people to get energized and "womp." Womping is a form of dance that includes moving your body in rhythmic motions to the sound of the bass dropping. Venues are booking dubstep DJs left and right to satisfy the audience's desire for dubstep.

"It was definitely a unique experience," said Spencer Farris, freshman psychology major from Kirkwood, Mo. "Lots of lights and wonderful noises. Also, I was up front, right by the speakers, so I got a good view of everything."

According to the Atlanta Dubstep website, Asaf Borger, better known as Borgore, is from Tel' Aviv, Israel. He is a 23-year-old dubstep producer and DJ, who is known for some "filthy" beats. He is also the owner of Buygore, a music label for up and coming artists.

"[He] sounded great live," Farris said. "Everything about his performance was pimpin'."

The Blue Note brought in a large line up of DJs for the event, including: Doombox, Hendrix vs. Cody Breeze, Wobblo Escobar and Borgore. The DJs brought their own style of dubstep to get the crowd jumping. Borgore really got the crowd going and at one point, a mosh pit broke out.

"Me trying to describe Borgore in itself is crazy," said Jordan Henry, freshman biology and pre-med major from Boston. "The night in itself was inexplicable."

After the show, Borgore hung outside the Blue Note and talked with his fans. He took pictures with a lucky few and signed autographs.
