Meet Shannon Yokley
by Matt Eisenbath, posted Sept. 19, 2011

Shannon Yokley, a bright new freshman at the University of Missouri, is excited to jumpstart her college career.

Yokley has always kept herself busy by being involved with multiple activities in high school. Two of the most important aspects of her life have always been journalism and, of course, agriculture.

In her local high school, Yokley contributed to the school’s journalism club and newspaper. She also made sure she found plenty of time to balance her passion for agriculture on her family farm.

Yokley has always shown cattle in the local fair, and would like to continue to find ways to express her passion for agriculture. This is one of the main reasons that the Jefferson City native decided to major in science and agricultural journalism at Mizzou.

From the minute she stepped onto this campus, Yokley was certain that Mizzou was the place she needed to be. It also never hurts when there is a strong family influence. Yokley’s father is an alumnus of MU, so there is plenty of black and gold flowing through the Yokley veins.

“Dad would probably have disowned me if I decided to go anywhere else,” joked Yokley.

Shannon has been to Tiger football games all her life, and she believes that tradition will continue. It is obvious that no matter what Yokley is doing, she is happy and content right here at the University of Missouri doing what she loves.
