Mizzou Craft Studio invites students to create Veterans Day cards

by Sarah Woodhurst, posted Nov. 11, 2009

Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11, and to celebrate the Mizzou Craft Studio is holding a free CRAFTernoon event to encourage students to create thank you cards for U.S. veterans. The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. in the Craft Studio, located at N12 Memorial Union.

This is the second year for the Veterans Day CRAFTernoon, and coordinator Kelsey Hammond is optimistic about a growing number of thank you cards.

“Last year, we took over about 50 cards or so,” Hammond said. “I would like to see over 100 cards this year.”

At the end of the session, the Craft Studio will collect all of the cards that were created and deliver them to the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital on campus.

“This will be a great way to thank a Veteran, and really show your creative, crafty side,” Hammond said.

The Craft Studio hosts other types of CRAFTernoon events throughout the semester, typically on Fridays.  Hammond said the Craft Studio crew is happy to provide a free, mid-week CRAFTernoon for a good cause.
