The plush seats of the Missouri Theatre were filled with more than 200 College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources’ students on Sept. 22.  Dressed in green CAFNR Week shirts, the audience enjoyed an evening of fun and laughter as ten organizations performed skits. This year's theme was "cultivating the present and harvesting the future."

As the red-velvet curtains rose, the emcees for the night, Ed Kope and Kyle Allen, took center stage to announce each club before they performed.  Participating organizations were:  Sigma Alpha, Independent Aggies, Alpha Gamma Sigma, Alpha Gamma Rho, Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, Agricultural Economics Club, Agricultural Education Society, Block and Bridle, and Collegiate Cattle Women.

Sigma Alpha got things rolling with a CAFNR version of Grease. Whitney Wallace, a senior who played Sandy, said in the skit that there is a "common thread we can all share within CAFNR, and no matter how different we are we all go together."

The theme was shown throughout the rest of the night in other skits such as, ACT’s reenactment of the 1980s film, “Back to the Future.” The Alpha Gamma Sigma’s told the audience what not to do before a quiz.

Prior to intermission, CAFNR week king and queen candidates from each club were introduced in a “Project Runway," cross-dressers show. The guys wore their favorite female fashions, while the ladies brought out their favorite overalls, t-shirts and hats.

The fun continued with dancing Ag Ed Society’s version of “Green Acres," and finished with the Collegiate Cattle Women's dodgeball tryouts.

Kortne Messner, freshman in Sigma Alpha skit, practiced nearly five hours and said, “ It was lots of fun; can't wait to be in it next year."

Her favorite part was laughing at Matt Holtman, Sigma Alpha’s king candidate, when he started cramping during the dance routine.

According to Amanda Eiberger, CAFNR week steering committee member, "Ag Rho's skit was the best. It kept me laughing the entire time. I literally had tears running down my face from laughing so hard.”

Eiberger was referring to Alpha Gamma Rho representatives’ — Aimee Gutshall and Kyle Eckler — skit similar to Saturday Night Live specials, including the Spartan cheerleaders and the ladies man. The boys ended the skit dancing to Miley Cyrus' “Party in the USA.”

“All the participation in CAFNR makes for a good night,” Eiberger said.

With so many good acts to pick from, the three judges had a difficult decision to make. The winners, the men of Alpha Gamma Rho, were announced at CAFNR Week Barnwarming on Sept. 24.
