At 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 140 students will walk across the stage in the University of Missouri Hearnes Center to receive their diplomas from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. Gov. Jay Nixon is the honored speaker as the students celebrate years of dedicated work at the university.
“I am excited at the opportunity to start a new chapter in my life,” said Katie Jarboe, agricultural economics major. “Although change is scary, it is also exciting! I am regretful that I chose to leave great friends gained in college by graduating early. Those memories will be remembered forever, though.”
Graduating senior Ben Runge, agricultural systems management major, said the most exciting part of getting out into the “real world” will be: “Not having homework to look forward to at the end of the day.”
Both seniors have plans after graduation, Jarboe received the opportunity to attend graduate school or continue working with the USDA. Runge’s journey across the stage will take him a little further, to Jeffersonville, Ind., where he will be working for Consolidated Grain and Barge Enterprises Inc.
All seniors should be congratulated, along with the staff and professors that have helped them a long the way.
“I’d like to thank all the professors and staff in the agriculture systems management program, especially Dr. Leon Schumacher and Sandra Zaring,” Runge said. “I would not have made it this far without them.”
Congratulations and good luck to all graduating seniors.
