Barnwarming — the final event for College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ CAFNR week — was held on Sept. 24 at the Blue Note in downtown Columbia. Students shared the good memories of the past week of celebration.

Chef Guinn and the CAFNR Hotel and Restaurant Management students catered a full-course meal, complete with baked beans, potatoes, beans, steak tips, pork chops, cole slaw and rolls. Chocolate-chip cookies and brownies were served for dessert, as well.

“The food was great,” said Brian Urich, a senior Alpha Gamma Rho member. “This week is always really exciting and fun week to experience.”

The CAFNR students piled in line and filled their paper plates, while music played, and students sang along.

Later in the evening, after bellies were full, the winning organization and CAFNR Week 2009 king and queen of were announced.

CAFNR Week champion organization was the Agricultural Education Society. Alpha Gamma Rho came in as first runner up, and Sigma Alpha was second runner up.

Agricultural Education majors, Kyle Eckler and Cheryl Ficken were crowned CAFNR Week king and queen. Eckler represented Alpha Gamma Rho, and Ficken represented Agricultural Education Society.

Skit night results were also announced at Barnwarming. The winners this year were the men of Alpha Gamma Rho. Coming in second place was the Agricultural Education Society, and third was Sigma Alpha.

Overall, the CAFNR week steering committee feels CANFR Week 2009 was a success.

“CAFNR week went really well,” said Alex Keene, a steering committee member. “Our committee worked really hard. Despite being busy, we still had people that were go-getters to make everything a success.”
