Independent Aggies win CAFNR Week washers tournament

As part of the College of Food Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ CAFNR Week, the annual washers tournament was held at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 in Trowbridge Livestock Arena.
Eight games were set up, two teams per game. The rules are simple — games to 11 points with double elimination for each team. It was a battle between CAFNR sponsored clubs to see who would come out on top. This year, the Independent Aggies prevailed.
There were roughly 30 teams, which is a good turnout according to Independent Aggie’s President Adam Keene.
“It is a pretty low-key event,” Keene said. “It’s just people hanging out, and having a good time.”
Country music filled the air as washers clinked against wooden boxes and people chattered. There was a lot going on and people seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Freshman Kate Peters, who played for Sigma Alpha, found the game to be interesting and fun.
“It’s not like we play it at home,” Peters said. “Our boards are a lot different, but it was still a good time. Events like this make it easier to meet people you are guaranteed to have something in common with.”
