Get geared up for CAFNR Career Fair

The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Career Fair runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Reynolds Alumni Center. CAFNR will be hosting about 65 agricultural companies from around the country that will be coming to the University of Missouri campus to find students for full-time and internship positions.
“The companies that travel here do so to meet students face to face,” said Stephanie Chipman, director of CAFNR Career Services. “The value of students walking up to a booth, sticking out their hands, making eye contact, and having that face-to-face interaction is extremely significant.”
Last year many students were offered internships and job positions at the 2008 CAFNR Career Fair.
“The Career Fair was a great experience because I got my name out in the agricultural industry to at least four or five companies in the seed business. I met with Monsanto at their booth and gave them my resume,” said Brandon Thiel, sophomore plant science student.“A week later they called and did a phone interview and offered me a technology development internship in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Career Fair provided me with great job experience and networking in the agricultural industry.”
Career Services staff recommend that students come in professional dress and have a resume to leave with employers. For a list of companies that will be at the CAFNR Career Fair visit www.hiremizzoutigers.com.
