MU Homecoming Blood Drive in full swing
by Jessica England, posted Oct. 15, 2008

The annual MU Homecoming blood drive is being held Oct. 14 through 16 at the Hearnes Center. MU welcomes anyone willing and able to give blood. The blood drive continues from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.

According to a representative from the American Red Cross, to give blood, each donor must weigh at least 110 lbs., be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), and bring a photo ID. The blood drive is a large part of the MU Homecoming festivities and is considered a tradition of the University.

The blood drive provides a place where people can help others by donating their time and blood. This event provides a way for students to meet new people, volunteer, have fun and help save lives.

For more information about this event, contact Columbia’s site for the American Red Cross at 573-445-9411, or go to the American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter Web site.
