Great Grill Off is a great time

The smell of grilled steaks filled the air Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at the annual Great Grill Off held at the Trowbridge Livestock Center on the MU campus. The Collegiate Cattle Women as part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ CAFNR Week hosted the event.
“The best part of the grill off is seeing involvement of the organizations and what each team decides to make,” said Kasey Hunt, Collegiate Cattle Women president. “Last year’s winners, the MU Barbeque Team, did not participate this year, so the competition is going to be intense.”
Nine teams participated in this year’s Great Grill Off. The organizations participating were the Independent Aggies, Collegiate Farm Bureau, Block and Bridle, Alpha Gamma Sigma and Alpha Gamma Rho.
“We’re really excited to be here today,” said Kyle Allen, member of Alpha Gamma Rho team three. “We are cooking up some t-bones and porterhouse steaks, and I think we are going to have a great meal for the judges.”
Alpha Gamma Rho won showmanship and a grill set donated by the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association. Alpha Gamma Sigma was the overall winner of the Great Grill Off and won a cash prize.
