Students encouraged to attend 2007 CAFNR Annual Career Fair
by Becky Legel, posted Sept. 21, 2007

Recruiters from 68 companies are registered to meet with students at the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Career Fair. The 2007 fair, which is noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the MizzouRec student recreation complex, offers opportunities for students to network and meet with prospective employers.

Stephanie Chipman, director of CAFNR Career Services, said students from all levels, including freshmen, are encouraged to attend the career fair. Freshmen should remember that even if a recruiter does not have an opportunity available this year, many businesses have recruiters at the fair a few years in a row.

“A lot of recruiters come back every single year and there's a good chance they will remember you,” Chipman said.

"We realize we have one of the earliest career fairs of the season, and we hope that recruiters leave campus looking for students as good as the ones they found here,” Chipman said. “MU CAFNR students set the standard.”

Students should be prepared to leave a good first impression by introducing themselves with confidence and knowing what they have to offer. Chipman advised students to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their resume and prepare for quick conversations.
