Skit night is filled with laughs
by Kimberly Cross, posted Sept. 20, 2007

The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources held its CAFNR Week skit night Sept. 18. Skit night, which was sponsored by the CAFNR Week Steering Committee, included skits and lip sync routines from all of the king and queen candidates’ sponsored groups. The skits revolved around agriculture and the theme of the week that CAFNR is “Here, There, and Everywhere.”

All of the groups and candidates had a message about the importance of CAFNR in their skits, along with the required teasing of CAFNR faculty. Jan Dauve and Michael Monson along with Stephanie Chipman were a few of the more highly recognizable faculty appearing in the skits.

Some of the groups that participated in skit night were the CAFNR Ambassadors, Alpha Gamma Rho, Collegiate Cattle Women, Independent Aggies, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Sigma Alpha. Skit ideas were everything from a “Bachelorette”-type dating game to “The Three Little Pigs.” Lip syncs were very popular with the audience and ranged from a “Grease” medley to a rendition of Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe.”

“I enjoyed all of performances,” said Paul Vaughn, associate dean and director of academic programs for CAFNR. “Especially the poking fun at the administration. People who didn’t come don’t know what they missed.”

At the end of the event, the winners of each category were announced so that points could be distributed for CAFNR Week totals. The Collegiate Farm Bureau won the skit category and Sigma Alpha won the lip sync. Also, the CAFNR Week king and queen were crowned and both of Sigma Alpha’s candidates won.
