Beware
the necropolis
Eric Wright, posted Oct. 31, 2006
A grey building looms beneath a red sunset. A sadistic madman
seethes behind its walls. In a ritualistic manner, he inspects
a kidnapped woman and his prepares a butchers knife. From
the building penetrating cries erupt, a struggle ensues and
ends before night falls. The floor runs thick in blood, and
mad cackle is all that stirs.
This
scene is but one of many more to follow. It’s a scene
that occurs before the madman’s capture and subsequent
execution. This is the haunted past you walk in upon entering
The Necropolis; a place said to still be frequented by the
ghost of the madman himself.
“People come out screaming,” said Vannah Shaw,
a concession worker for the attraction.
The Necropolis, a haunted house located on the corner of College
Ave. and Rogers St., boasts at being one of the best haunted
houses in Missouri. So, expect to walk away with a scare.
Nailah Sims, an actor at the house, had a chance to witness
visitor’s reactions first hand.
“Even adults were scared off their feet,” she
said “You can expect to encounter lots of startling
scares and a spooky atmosphere. I think visitors will definitely
get their money’s worth.”
The Necropolis is open every weekend in October and the full
week of Halloween. Hours are from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets
are $11 or $5 more for a VIP pass that lets you skip the lines.
