Dedication
to Life Sciences Center contributors

At
8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, a crowd of CAFNR students
and their parents gathered outside of the Life Sciences Center
for the CAFNR Pancake Breakfast in honor of parents' weekend.
Ironically, there were no pancakes. Sarah Jackson, a member
of the CAFNR Student Development Board, explained, "The
pancake man bailed on us!" Although there were no pancakes,
there were plenty of biscuits and gravy, potatoes, sausage,
bacon, sweet rolls and assorted fruits to eat.

After
everyone had settled down to their breakfast, a dedication
ceremony began, ending with the unveiling of a commemorative
plaque in honor of the people who made the construction of
the Life Sciences Center possible. Among the many people recognized
were Jim Russel, the president of Mo Ag Industries; Charlie
Campbell, from MU Extension; and Roger Mitchell, the man who
bore the initial idea for the project.
Campbell
said that for every $3,000 donated, $5,700 was given towards
the project. The undertaking included not only the Life Sciences
Center, which is currently housing the most cutting-edge research
on soybean biometrics in the country, but also the Mo Ag Industries
Plaza and the MFA Inc. Gateway. The MFA Inc. Gateway is the
entryway from Rollins Street into the Mo Ag Plaza which is
an open courtyard leading to the Life Sciences Center.
After
all of the formalities were through, and just to show MU spirit
before the football game, the assembled guests and faculty
were led in a cheer of MIZ-ZOU!
