“Dirty,
Fun, Fellowship.” These were the words used by senior
GDI President Ryan Power to describe the annual Mud Volleyball
Tournament hosted by the Independent Aggies on Sept. 26 during
CAFNR Week. The event took place at 7 p.m. in the Trowbridge
Livestock Center and was host to 37 teams representing many
agriculture clubs. The main show arena was converted to a
soupy mud pit where men and women alike got down and dirty
to support their club in grimy pride.
“This is by far the best turnout we’ve ever had,”
Power said. “It is just a great time and it brings everyone
in the Ag School together for fun and fellowship.”
Many students took advantage for a chance to socialize and
show off their athletic abilities.
It seemed simple to some students why such an event would
be so popular. “Its mud and its volleyball,” junior
Pat Trefenbrun said. “It doesn’t get any better
than that.”
As the night rolled on, the music kept playing and the number
of teams got smaller and smaller. After the mud settled, GDI
came out on top with a solid victory over Alpha Gamma Rho.
But, it didn’t take a win to enjoy the evening. “It’s
a lot of fun,” senior Jo Wyatt said. “This was
my third Ag Week, but my first Mud Volleyball and I’m
having a blast.”
