Econ Club Canned Food Drive

It
is the time of the year when people are trimming trees, baking
holiday goods and shopping for that perfect present. These
things are not the only ones that people are thinking about
with the busy holiday season. It is time to help out the less
fortunate in the community, and the Agricultural Economics
Club is helping to do that by having a canned food drive.
According the Joe Tvrdy, chairperson of the canned food drive,
“The food drive will benefit the Central Missouri Food
Bank and its constituents. The drive will run from now until
Friday, Dec 8.” Tvrdy also said, “Collection bins
have been set up in Mumford and in the Agriculture building
by 2-64. Monetary donations are welcome and can be dropped
off at the reception desk in 200 Mumford.” Tvrdy said
the canned food drive is a tradition that the club is very
proud of.
Tvrdy was unsure of the pounds of food the drive will bring
in. “I would like to see between 300 to 500 pounds of
food donated, but due to the inclement weather, I don't believe
that we will have as good of turn out as previously expected.”
Jill Kohut, Agricultural Economics Club president, said “We
have been doing this for several years and it is a great way
to help people in Central Missouri that are less fortunate
with the help of Central Missouri Food Bank.”
