The
FFA National Convention raced to a new home in Indianapolis,
Ind. This is the first year that the National FFA Convention
was held in Indianapolis, which is also home of the organization’s
national headquarters. According to the FFA
Web site, the convention has only been held at two other
sites, in Kansas City, Mo., and in Louisville, Ky. The National
FFA convention was held Oct. 25 through 28.
Chuck Miller, a Hickman High School FFA adviser liked having
the convention in Indianapolis. “Indy was fine. [The
trip was about] the same drive, and it was probably easier
to maneuver around Indianapolis,” said Miller. “Louisville
was great because the entire convention was on one premise
with less walking and actually seemed to have more in the
career show and had a larger shopping mall. I expect the changes
that are occurring in Indy will help that a good bit.”
Missouri FFA President, Jeromie Allen, said “The major
changes were not having everything in one place. At Louisville,
the convention and career fair were held in one place, but
in Indy, they were in two separate buildings. Also, Indy was
a lot more spread out. It was nice to have it [the convention]
in a new place.”
Jodi Brown, a junior at Mark Twain High School, in Center,
Mo., said “It was spread apart in different buildings,
but I still liked it. I really thought it was cool that they
had part of the convention in the Indianapolis Pacers gym.
I also thought that the convention seemed more organized in
Indy than it did in the past when I attended.”
