The Tiger Pep Rally in the Columbia Mall’s Café Court on Oct. 12 was packed with people watching the show put on by the cheerleaders, Golden Girls, Mini Mizzou and Truman the Tiger. The women’s basketball team was at the event to talk about their upcoming season. The team is expected to do well after their trip to the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament last year. The team had two players drafted into the Women’s National Basketball Association.

“We’ve been ready to start since the end of last year’s basketball season. The goal is to have an even better record than last year. There are a lot of returners to build on,” said Eetisha Riddle, senior member of the MU women’s basketball team. The team stayed after the pep rally to sign autographs for the numerous fans in attendance.

“I’m absolutely excited for basketball to come,” said Arin Hennessey, freshman MU cheerleader. The cheerleaders are not the only ones excited. The members of Marching Mizzou were teeming with energy.“The band is the most exciting part of basketball season, period. The new men’s basketball coach is also exciting. I’m looking forward to it,” said Mark Stebanek, sophomore Marching Mizzou member.

As for the football team in their upcoming games, the fans are hoping to break even more records. “I sure hope they do well. My whole family is a fan of Mizzou football. I’m a fifth generation Mizzou fan,” said Sharra Klug, an MU graduate student.

“There isn’t more school spirit. People are more excited to come to games. We’ve always had school spirit. It’s more intense now,” said Hennessey.
