Sigma
Alpha Horse Show

Sunshine and great temperatures made for a very relaxing afternoon
on Sunday, Oct. 1, as the women of Sigma Alpha came together
for a horse show. The event took place at 1 p.m. in the arena
at MU’s Horse Farm. This was the first horse show sponsored
by the sorority, and they hope to make it an annual event.
“In the past, we have not had a philanthropy event,”
said Ashley Mitchell, event chair. “We are working to
make this our annual philanthropy.”
Mitchell began planning for the show in April with the help
of Julie Neimeyer, the sorority’s advertising chair.
Preparing for the event included reserving the arena, getting
ribbons and supplies, securing an insurance policy, creating
the show bill and advertising. “I have shown horses
all my life,” Mitchell said, “So I knew what a
job it would be putting on a show.”
The show bill included pleasure and game classes for the riders.
“The Sigma Alpha show was a great opportunity for me
to get a young horse out,” said Audra Wyble, Sigma Alpha
member. “The weather was great, and I hope more will
participate next year. I thought the Sigma Alpha staff who
put on and organized the show did an awesome job."
