Preview Mizzou
By Zack Ruesler

Hundreds of high school students flocked to the campus on Oct. 3 to get their first look at the college of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (CAFNR) during Preview Mizzou. This program is designed to give future students the opportunity to get a glimpse of CAFNR and the campus as a whole. The four-hour program gave high school students an opportunity to explore many aspects of CAFNR, including course and academic major information, extra-curricular opportunities and campus life.

“Preview Mizzou was a great experience to see what is offered at MU. It really made it easy for me to decide that I want to go to college here.” Christine Hertling, a high school senior said.

Registration began at 8 a.m. and students were greeted with refreshments, a folder full of campus information and MU students that would serve as their guides throughout the day. After a short welcome, students, parents and teachers were divided into groups to be able to view the different academic major sessions and a student life fair.

The academic sessions were an overview of the different majors and classes offered in the college. The student life fair was an opportunity for students to ask questions and pick up information about admissions, financial aid, residential life, study abroad opportunities and CAFNR student activities and organizations

“I was a little nervous when we first got here it all seemed so big, but after the welcome I knew that it was going to be a very helpful day. I mean, I decided my major and some of the clubs I want to be involved with. I can’t wait till I go here.” Claudia Meadows, a high school senior said.

The program came to a close with lunch and a campus tour. This, for many high school students, was their first look at Mizzou’s campus.

“This is the first time I have ever really been on the campus and it is so beautiful. When we went to the major session it just seemed like so much fun, today just reassured my decision to come to Mizzou. ” Brittany Rissinger, a junior in high school said.
