A handful of folks, lunches in hand, turned out for the kick-off to the 2005
fall semester International Brown Bag Series. The event was held in 2-30
of the Agriculture Building on Sept. 22. Dr. Willi Meyers and Dr. Tom Johnson
spoke about their recent experiences in Ukraine working with a government
task force to improve agricultural and rural policy and development.
“Global competency is important for students,” Roy Robinson, CAFNR
study abroad program director, said. “Anyone who wishes to speak about
an international topic can give one of these on-the-go presentations.”
“They provide research and study abroad possibilities for students. Some
international students give their perspectives on their home cultures,” Robinson
said.
The CAFNR
2005 fall semester International Brown Bag Series continues on
Oct. 19, 2005, with Bill Folk speaking on fighting malnutrition in Africa.
November
brings Jere Gilles to the podium to enlighten those interested on projects
and study abroad in Latin America. Other sessions will be determined as
the semester
goes on.
