CAFNR Week
is coming down the home stretch and one thing is on everybody’s mind: Who will be crowned King and Queen
of CAFNR Week? The winners will be announced at Barnwarming
on Friday, Sept. 29, from 9 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Each club and
organization had the chance to nominate one male and one female
member to represent them. The organizations
represented range from the Ag Econ Club to Collegiate Cattlewomen
to Greek groups.
The King nominees
include agribusiness management seniors Clint Kendrick, of Paris,
Mo., representing the Ag Econ Club and Adam Brinker, of Auxvasse,
Mo., representing Sigma Alpha. Two agricultural
education seniors, Wade Orscheln, Bonnots Mill, Mo., and Cody Brock,
Norborne, Mo., are representing the Ag Ed Society and Alpha Gamma
Rho, respectively. Another pair sharing a major is agriculture
systems management sophomore Paul Cowherd, Boonville, Mo., representing
Collegiate Cattlewomen and senior Chris Beach representing GDI. Rounding
out the field are three more seniors, animal science student Jacob
Brookhart representing Block and Bridle, plant science student
David Kleinsorge representing Collegiate Farm Bureau, and Carl
Woodard representing Alpha Gamma Sigma.
The Queen nominees
are a younger group, with many representatives in their junior
year. Two sophomores start out the field
with parks, recreation, and tourism student Robin Loehner representing
the Collegiate Farm Bureau, and animal sciences student Katie Voelker,
of Perryville, Mo., representing Alpha Gamma Sigma. Joining
Voelker are three more animal science students: senior Michelle
Dowell, Paris, Mo., representing GDI, junior Lisa Stiens, Skidmore,
Mo., representing Block and Bridle, and junior Jill Nelson, Centralia,
Mo., representing Collegiate Cattlewomen. Two future ag educators,
junior Mariah Yates, Monroe City, Mo., and senior Tiffany Crews,
Slater, Mo., are representing the Ag Ed Society and Alpha Gamma
Rho, respectively. Agricultural journalism senior Megan Cooper,
Stanberry, Mo., and junior Nicki Busdieker, Hawk Point, Mo., are
representing Sigma Alpha and the Ag Econ Club, respectively. Rounding
out the Queen nominees is plant science junior Mariah Bock, of
New Madrid, Mo., representing Farmhouse.
Each of the
candidates competed in an essay contest as well as an interview.
All that is left to do is to wait and see who is crowned this
year’s
CAFNR Week King and Queen!
