Ryan Maris, Corner Post Staff

April 5, 2004 - Mizzou dropped to 21 wins, eight losses, and one tie Sunday as they lost the final game of their second Big 12 series. That gives them two wins and four losses. The Bears pounded out nine runs, only seven earned, on eleven hits in the game against Garrett Broshius and lefty Taylor Parker. Mark Alexander pitched the final two and two-thirds innings for the Tigers, giving up no earned runs on two hits. Taylor Parker took the loss.

Lee Laskowski had the only extra-base hit of the day for the Tigers, hitting a double in the fifth inning that scored two runners. The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning and four in the fifth inning to account for all their runs Sunday.

As far as the season goes, the Tigers are still batting a solid .302 and have exactly doubled opponents in runs scored, 242 to 121. Ryan Rallo and Cody Ehlers have over half of the teams 35 home runs with nine a piece while Ehlers has 39 runs batted in to Rallo's 33. Cody Ehlers also has the team Triple Crown right now, leading the team in average with a .383 clip.

As far as the Tigers pitching staff goes, Broshius still has a perfect record leading them at 6 wins. Nick Admire has the lowest earned run average at 1.65 per nine innings pitched. As for the three major starters, Erik Dessau leads them with a 1.97 ERA. Starter Danny Hill has logged the most innings pitched with 51 while also having the most strikeouts with 53. Garrett Broshius has the only solo shutout on the year for the staff.

The Tigers have one more game at home against Saint Louis University Wendesday at 6:30 before hitting the road next weekend at Norman, Oklahoma against the Sooners. They then have a Wednesday night game at SMS April 14th before coming back home with an important Big 12 series against Nebraska starting April 16th.
