Missouri
vs. Kansas State: To bowl or not to bowl
Derrick Ming, Corner Post staff
Nov. 18, 2002 - For the first time in four years and in only the
second season of head coach Gary Pinkel, the MU football team
could go to a bowl game with a win over the 11th ranked Kansas
State Wildcats on Saturday.
"This is a very big game," Pinkel said. "We have
a lot on the line."
The Tigers will not have it easy on Saturday. Kansas State is
coming off two victories, in which they scored more than 100 points
combined. Missouri, on the other hand, defeated Texas A&M
in double overtime Saturday.
"This is a big game," defensive back Michael Harden
said. "We have nothing to lose and everything to gain."
Missouri and Kansas State are already familiar with each other.
Kansas State has won the last two matches against the Tigers.
Some MU team members said they are in great physical shape to
compete against the highly ranked Kansas State team.
"We are a totally different team then last year," middle
linebacker Sean Doyle said. "We are more physical and in
better shape than we have ever been in."
"This is the biggest game of my career," defensive end
Terrell Mills said. "We have a great opportunity to finish
500."
Saturday will determine the outcome of the Tiger's season. They
will either beat the 11th ranked Wildcats and advance to a bowl,
or they will lose and have a long winter.
Only time will tell.
