- The Missouri football Tigers will face Kansas at 1 p.m. Saturday
for the 91st annual MU Homecoming game. The Tigers will try to
end their three-game Homecoming losing streak, and what better
team to do it against than the Tigers arch-rival, the Kansas Jayhawks?
Missouri is
3-4 overall and 0-3 in the Big 12 and is looking to get back on
track after three straight losses. The Tigers are also looking
for their first Big 12 win.
Kansas is 2-6
overall with an 0-4 record in the Big 12 and, like Missouri, is
looking for its first Big 12 win, but the Tigers don't plan to
let that happen.
"We can't
let those Jayhawks come in and beat us," sophomore wide receiver
Thomson Omboga said. "It would be just like a slap in the
face."
This is the
111th time that MU and KU have played each other in football,
with KU holding the slight edge in the all-time series 51-50-9.
Many of the players have said Saturday's match-up is a must-win
game and that a win at home could help them get momentum on their
side.
"This
is a must-win situation and a must-win game," senior linebacker
Sean Doyle said.
"We are
hungry for that win," sophomore linebacker James Kinney said.
"It is Homecoming and what better game to win and beat our
rivals."
This game is
also the "Gold Rush" game, when fans are encouraged
show their support for the Tigers by wearing gold to the game.
MU's Homecoming
game can be heard locally on KFRU 1400 AM and KBXR 102.3 FM.
