CAFNR
students are Germany bound

- Ahhhh, Thanksgiving break, a time to carve the turkey, pass
the potatoes and scarf down the sauerkraut. That was the plan
for many College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR)
students, but now they have signed up to spend a less-than-traditional
Thanksgiving break in Germany, sacrificing home cooking for a
short-term Study Abroad session Nov.22-30.
The original
travelers were 15 students from Ag Systems Management Club (ASM),
but the trip was then opened to all CAFNR students and the small
group jumped to nearly 50.
Students will
tour factories including Fendt, Claas, BMW, JD Forage Harvesters,
Mercedes and Porsche. The trip is not all about mechanics though.
Tours will also include area farms, castles and other tourist
attractions, including Nuerenburg.
Participants
in the short Study Abroad excursion will have the opportunity
to gain two credit hours by completing a written project after
the trip.
"I am
going because I figure this is the only way I will get to go abroad
for the price," Clint Youse, senior and student coordinator,
said. "And this is the only time I will get to see some of
the things that we will see on the trip."
The trip will
cost approximately $1,000, not including food expenses. Interested
students should get a check made out to ASM for $500 dollars to
Clint Youse, Leon Schumacher, or Sandy Zaring by Sept. 30.
