September
6, 2002 - College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR)
freshmen and transfer students had the opportunity to join a variety
of organizations at this year's Fall Roundup Sept. 5 in the Ag
Building. The event's theme was "Flashback to the Past"
and featured many students sporting looks from the 60s, 70s and
80s.

The
students were welcomed in Conservation Hall by Vice Chancellor
and Dean Tom Payne and the Associate Dean of Academic Programs
Paul Vaughn, as well as the student council co-chairs for Fall
Roundup, Jennifer Bloss and Zach Crews.
The students then got to roam through the halls of the Ag Building,
learning about all of the clubs CAFNR has to offer. There were
games to play, prizes to win and candy for everyone.
The Agricultural
Economics Club booth gave students a chance to play 70s Jeopardy,
students could win t-shirts at the FFA booth, and Kurt Richter
of the International Studies program ran a booth that provided
information about the many study abroad programs that CAFNR students
are able to participate in. Students could also visit a new booth
featuring the Collegiate Chapter of the Missouri Farmers Union
this year.
"Finding
clubs that fit your interests is very important," CAFNR Student
Council President Cara Copenhaver, senior, said. "Also, being
involved is extremely important to your success as a college student.
It is a great way to meet new people. This is where I met a lot
of my college friends."

Heather Shauck,
freshman, said her first experience at Fall Roundup was great
because she got to see the variety of clubs that she wanted to
learn more about."It was really cool that there were so many
clubs there," Shauck said. "I didn't realize that there
were so many offered in the Ag School."
After visiting with club representatives, students made their
way outside where they enjoyed a barbeque sponsored by Tyson.
There was also a dance, where a few brave souls got up and shook
their groove thing.
When asked her opinion of the event, Julie Mette, biochemistry
representative for student council, said, "Everything seemed
to run very smoothly this year and everyone seemed to be taking
advantage of the opportunities given to them."
