- Five College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR)
students took a study break Sunday in an effort to earn $10 for
participating in the Ag Week Freshman Campus Raid sponsored by
Mizzou FFA Alumni.
The students
arrived at the Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources (ABNR) lobby at
2 p.m. and were divided into two teams. Team One consisted of
Cory Robinson and Mike Deering, with Mizzou FFA Alumni members
Bill McLain and Jackie Campbell. Team Two consisted of Tiffany
Crews, Jessy Bradley and Jacob Brookhart, with Mizzou FFA Alumni
members Colleen Griswold and Molly Quinn.
The CAFNR students
were handed sheets of paper with 12 clues about places on campus,
including Memorial Union, Beetle Bailey and the Columns. The teams
raced against each other, and the Mizzou FFA Alumni members signed
their sheets to verify that they had visited each station. The
point of the activity was to see who could obtain all of the signatures
and arrive back at the ABNR lobby the fastest.
"The
activity was started because we (Mizzou FFA Alumni) thought there
needed to be an activity for freshman," Griswold, Mizzou
FFA Alumni president, said.
When asked why she attended Freshman Campus Raid, Crews said,
It sounded like a lot of fun and a good way to get to know
the campus.
Organizers
were a little disappointed by attendance but were glad to see
that those who attended had fun.
"I don't
understand why Road Rally and Freshman Campus Raid were at the
same time," Griswold said.
Team One arrived
back at the ABNR lobby first, but Griswold said that all five
participants would receive $10 for their willingness to sacrifice
an hour of their time.
