Tigers
to battle Aggies in Texas this weekend
Anthony Robb, Corner Post staff
Nov. 11, 2002 - The Missouri Tigers will travel to College Station,
Texas, to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M on Saturday.
The 4-6 Tigers are coming
off two tough losses, including last Saturday's overtime thriller
against Colorado. The 6-4 Aggies are fresh off their stunning
upset of previously No. 1 ranked Oklahoma and look to finish the
season strong.
Freshman redshirt quarterback
Brad Smith needs just 95 yards rushing to become only the second
player in college football history to throw for 2,000 yards and
rush for 1,000. Even with all his individual accomplishments,
Smith said he is still putting the team first and is pushing for
those last two wins that would make the team bowl-eligible.
"My focus is on
getting the team to a level of winning," Smith said. "Especially
these last two games."
This is only the seventh
time the two teams have met, with A&M winning all 6 of the
previous meetings. They last competed in 1999, with A&M winning
51-14. A&M is the only Big 12 team Missouri has never beaten.
Although Missouri will
be ready to go, so will the Aggies famous "wrecking ball
defense" and the "12th man." The Aggies tough defense
will be sure to test the Tigers offense.
The MU-A&M game starts
at 1 p.m. Saturday and can be heard on local radio stations KFRU/1400
AM and KBXR/102.3 FM.
