Meet Lindsey, a graduating PRT major
By Katie Allen, Corner Post staff

University of Missouri-Columbia senior Lindsey Schweppe changed her major three times before deciding the parks, recreation and tourism program fit her interests perfectly.

“I never thought about changing (majors) once I found PRT,” Schweppe said. “I jumped right in and loved it (PRT).”

Schweppe has found much success in the PRT program. She said some of her greatest accomplishments as a PRT major at MU include maintaining a good grade point average, taking on leadership roles on campus, receiving scholarships, making friends and meeting her fiancé.

Because of the wonderful people she has met in college and her relationship with God, Schweppe said that she has been able to get through college successfully.

“My wonderful fiancé, roommates and buddies have been a great web of encouragement and fun,” Schweppe said.

Schweppe also said that living on her own and being independent has helped her in developing into the person she is today. She acknowledges her professors for giving her a tremendous amount of guidance along the way.

After graduating this month, Schweppe plans to get married and hopes to begin working in a parks and recreation department in the St. Louis area. As she leaves Mizzou, Schweppe said that she will miss her involvement in campus activities, including Christian Campus House, Tiger X Instructors, summer welcome leaders and participating in a service sorority. She advises students currently at Mizzou to get involved as well.

“Get involved with activities or clubs in your specific field,” Schweppe said. “(Involvement) makes networking easier, and you gain great experience.”
