Barnwarming Candidates
Spend the Night with Nuttin' but A Game of Horsehoes
Kathleen McInerney, Corner Post Staff
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, the Independent
Aggies held a Washers Tournament at Trowbridge Arena. The Tournament
was held as part of the Ag. Week festivities and some “good
clean fun.”
After about three and a half hours
of ring tossing, two teams, Ag. Week 1 took first place and GDI teams
took second and third. First place winners took home
$40, second place took $30 and third place took $20. Teams earned spirit points
for their clubs. The club with the most points is given the Spirit Award.
King and queen candidates for barnwarming also received 25 points
for attending the
event.
“It’s a blast. Everyone
comes in and has a great time,” said
Matt Beach, president of the Independent Aggies.
Washers is a game much like horseshoes,
except players throw
metal washers
into a wooden box with a cylinder in the middle. A Team got
three points for landing the washer in the cylinder and two points
for
landing the washer in the box.
Teams play until someone accumulates twenty-one points total.
Any Agriculture student is able to
participate in the tournament. This year about 40 teams participated
in the event. Most players received points for an
agricultural Club or a Greek community.
