Ag Week’s third annual Comedy Night, held at Déjà Vu on Sept. 23, 2004, attracted a crowd of nearly 140 students. Lacy Jewell, Ag Week Tri-Director, said the attendance number was a down a little from last year’s event but everyone seemed to still have a good time. The musical styling of comedian Johnny Walker opened the evening with takeoff of the John Mayer song, “Your Body is a Wonderland” by changing the words to “Columbia is a Wonderland.” He continued by changing words to the Nelly song “Must be the Money” with “I got no Money.” Though intended to be funny, the comical music introduced controversial topics like the war in Iraq, steroids and alcohol consumption. Walker’s edgy sense of humor got the crowd geared up for the featured comic, Kyle Cease. Walker said, “This group was a lot of fun; this is the best Ag Week I’ve ever had.” Kyle Cease, who played Bogey Lowenstein in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You and the “slow clap guy” in Not Another Teen Movie, then took the stage as the feature act. Cease immediately made fun of his “slow clap” fame as audience members mimicked his clap scenes from the movie. Kyle’s quick wit made everyone laugh, especially when he referred to the nostalgia of the 1980s such as the Nintendo gaming system. During the show, he repeatedly mentioned how great of a crowd the rowdy students were. After the show, Cease said, “This crowd was a lot of fun and made the set go by really fast. Ag Week is the best!” With or without high attendance Jewell was impressed by the first event of Ag Week. “I am really looking forward to the rest of the week and especially
skit night,” Jewell said. “Comedy night is a great start
for a week we all look forward to.”
