Tigers
Ready to Roar

It's almost showdown time for the MU vs. KU football game this Saturday. To see
the game you'll have to travel to Lawrence, Kan., but you won't be the only one
traveling watch the Tigers sink their teeth into the Jayhawks! The University
of Missouri football game against the University of Kansas dates back to 1891.
Back then, games were played at Kansas City. The 1911 season brought a change
in conference regulations and required all intercollegiate football games to
be played on university campuses instead of urban areas. Then MU football coach,
C.L. Brewer urged the "Old Grads" to come back home to help with attendance and
help dedicate the new MU football field. The idea was a success and also started
a tradition we now call homecoming. This annual football showdown is the oldest
such rivalry west of the Mississippi. The 109 game series is currently tied at
51-51-9. Last years game was a MU victory in Columbia. If you don't plan on traveling
to the game it will be televised and air on the Fox Sports Net National telecast
at 11:30 am (CDT).
