Comedy Night a Big Hit

Sept. 26, 2002 - College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) students kicked off Ag Week 2002 Thursday night with Comedy Night at Déjà Vu Comedy Club in downtown Columbia. Judging by the crowd's reaction, it was a "can't-miss" event. (full story here)

Little Expo Promotes Agriculture in a Big Way

Ag Week Community Service Event Raises Questions

Sept. 28, 2002 - Bright and early this morning, approximately 130 students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources came together to take part in the second event of Ag Week 2002, Community Service. In previous years, the community service project took place outside MU, but this year's event was held at the university's South Farm. (full story here)

CAFNR Students Rev Up for Road Rally

Sept. 29, 2002 - As part of Ag Week 2002, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources students participated in the Road Rally, sponsored by the Ag Systems Management club, on Sunday afternoon. The event is an automobile scavenger hunt during which teams receive clues and questions that direct them to different checkpoints along the way. The winners are determined by time, mileage and answers to the questions. (full story here)

Summer 2002 brings changes and challenges for students

Students returning to MU for the start of Fall Semester 2002 can expect several things on campus to be different. Campus-wide tension surrounding state budget cuts continues, and "Building a Better Mizzou" signs are almost as visible as Truman the Tiger. Here's a look at some changes on campus. Gary Dickinson Student Achievement Center under construction

Dickinson Achievement Center opening delayed due to furniture confusion

Sept. 1, 2002 - The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources' (CAFNR's) new student service office in the Gary Dickinson Student Achievement Center will not be occupied quite yet. Although the space itself will soon be completed, the furniture and other decorations will not be installed until late September or early October. (full story here)

Computer lab will not return to Ag basement

Sept. 3, 2002 - College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) students may have to walk a bit farther to use computer labs this semester, as the familiar 1-119 and 1-120 labs in the basement of the Ag building have become the temporary home of the Academic Programs Office (APO). The space, formerly operated by Information Access and Technology Services (IATS) as a student computer lab, will be unoccupied following the APO's move to the new Gary Dickinson Student Achievement Center in early October. September 6, 2002 - College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) freshmen and transfer students had the opportunity to join a variety of organizations at this year's Fall Roundup Sept. 5 in the Ag Building. CAFNR student announces run for MSA presidency

Oct. 14, 2002 - Brett Ordnung has always found a way to exceed his limits, give 110 percent and never look back. Today, he has taken a step in a new direction by filing as a candidate for president of the Missouri Students Association (MSA) in the upcoming elections. A junior in agricultural education, Ordnung said he is a well-qualified candidate. (full story here)

Oct. 31, 2002 - A groundbreaking ceremony took place at College Avenue and Hospital Drive today to celebrate the new residence halls that are scheduled to be in use by Fall Semester 2004. The facilities, now called the Virginia Avenue Housing and Dining Group, mark the beginning of a 15- to 20-year plan at MU. (full story here)

Dec. 5, 2002 - Paul Vaughn, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Associate Dean and director of Academic Programs was an unexpected guest in the 8 a.m. session of Ag Econ 40 on Thursday. To everyone's surprise, Vaughn presented Jan Dauve, Resident Instruction Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, with the Golden Apple Award. (full story here)

Forestry Club sells Christmas trees, raises scholarship money

Dec. 7, 2002 - MU's Forestry Club held a Christmas tree sale last weekend at Faurot Field. The annual sale, which is traditionally the club's only fund-raising activity, provides money for scholarships for forestry students and a trip to a forestry convention. (full story here)

This "Miss Congeniality" quote captured the spirit of 56 young ladies as they participated in the 2002 Missouri State Fair Queen contest in August. A week in the life of a Little American Royal participant

During the week of Oct. 14, the Block and Bridle sponsored a Little American Royal to give students a chance to take care of an animal for a week and go through all the preparations for showing it. These preparations included everything from feeding the animal to bathing it. It was a showmanship competition, focusing on the calmness of the person and not the appearance of the animal. Tigers win in overtime

Nov. 18, 2002 - The Missouri Tigers have played several close games this season and finally pulled one out in a 33-27 win over Texas A&M Saturday. The win improved the Tigers' record to 5-6 on the season and made them one win away from becoming bowl eligible. (full story here)

Nov. 28, 2002 - The Ag Systems Management club "engineered" an excursion to Germany over Thanksgiving break. It was a pioneer trip in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources' history. The original plan consisted of 15 Ag Systems Management students touring the Coburg University and various agriculture-related factories, but the trip roster exploded when it was opened up to all of CAFNR, regardless of major.
